Join the Waynesville Public Art Commission for their annual fundraising event. Your ticket supports the commission of a mural highlighting the historic Pigeon Community Multicultural Development Center. It guarantees a fine dining experience, handcrafted by local chef Nicholas Peek from Birchwood Hall Southern Kitchen and mocktails by Sam Kearney and the Roll Up Herbal Bar. The event will feature a cash bar and live music, performed by the Bridget Gossett Band.

The WPAC has partnered with the PCMDC for almost a year to develop a theme for the mural that would illustrate the historical and cultural significance of the Pigeon Community Multicultural Development Center. The artist, Kristy McCarthy is from East Harlem, New York, and a professional muralist and community organizer who utilizes her work as a tool to build community awareness.

Built in the 1950s, Pigeon Street School was tasked with educating rural America’s black community until desegregation in Haywood County introduced a chance for local cultures to begin learning about and understanding one another. Since this time, Pigeon Street School has evolved into a bright epicenter driven to embrace an inclusive spirit and atmosphere of learning and sanctuary while serving the local community
